The name of the slain BGB member is Sepoy Mohammad Raishuddin. Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Jamil Chowdhury said that the process of bringing back his body is continuing.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has mentioned the incident of BGB member's death as 'isolated'. "This is an isolated incident," he said in response to a question from reporters after a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner on Tuesday. At that time the Indian High Commissioner was smiling with his teeth out.

Although the news of the death of BGB members came in various Bangladeshi media, this news was not seen in the Indian media. Although Bangladesh and India are neighboring friendly countries, killings on the border of the two countries are not new. The news of Bangladeshis being killed by BSF is sometimes seen in the media.

Earlier in October 2019, firing took place between BGB and BSF on the Rajshahi border of Bangladesh. At that time, a member of the Indian Border Guard was killed in firing by the BGB. The shootings took place in the Balughat area of Charghat upazila of Rajshahi on Hilsa fishing in the Padma river. At that time, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan referred to the incident as an 'unfortunate accident'.

Then Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the BSF was trying to forcibly evacuate a fisherman who was detained in the waters of Bangladesh during the hilsa ban season. But when the BGB objected to this, the BSF opened fire as they rushed away. BGB also fired in response.

However, the BSF claimed that the BGB fired at the BSF during the flag meeting. Which was denied by BGB. This incident was widely covered in the Indian media at that time. There the commentary given by the BSF was given priority.

In those reports, conflicting claims of BGB and BSF emerged. BGB officials said at that time, first firing was done by BSF.
